Postcards from the Beginning

Postcards from the Beginning was just a little project we started off with to start working with some ideas. The idea was to design a postcard relating to what we thought we would like our major projects to be. I thought about it for a while and I thought that I would like to continue down the road I took the year previous in my degree. I had just finished my degree and I was hopping staright into a masters programme all set to continue what I had started. For my degree I wrote and illustrated  a childrens story book. It was all about Puddin Wuddin, a little Reindeer and his best friend Tiimothy, the posh penguin. The story was called "Puddin Wuddin and the Great Adventure". I developed my own style of illustration and I was really excited. I hoped to continue on the Puddin stories as a series of children's books. I decided on the title "Develop and Smile" for my project. I want to develop my style of illustration and enjoy my projet and masters along the way. This is what my postcards represent.

Mini Me :)

I decided that I would design me as a little character that could fit in nicely with Puddin and Timothy. So basically...A smaller, cuter version of myself. I started designing a little girl version of me. I had recently bought a new winter hat so that was goimng in to the design!I had to remember the Puddin story is based in a place covered in snow! The little girl would look silly with out a wooly aht and some booties and maybe mittens too! No one is going to be wearing a flowery dress in that weather!
I wanted her to be small, pudgey and cute. She had to look sweet and innocent as well. That way she would tie in with the other characters.

Final Piece: My Postcard

My Final postcard is a simple image. The little girl is holding Puddin Wuddin by the hand and leading him and Timothy towards a sign that says "Icey Tops". Basically its me leading them towards a new adventure. I wanted to create a world for my characters as well as create new characters for them to interact with. Develop a style, a story and charcaters and Smile while we are working.
